SMOK Nord 5 Coils and Pod

The SMOK Nord 5 ships with an RPM 3 Meshed 0.15 ohm coil installed and a 0.23 ohm coil in the box, and SMOK lists a resistance range of 0.15 to 2.5 ohm.1

SMOK says the 0.15 ohm coil suits 40W to 80W and the 0.23 ohm coil 20W to 45W. The standard edition comes with a 5 mL pod, and SMOK also lists 2 mL editions for its EU and CA markets. The pod uses a coil-lock design that SMOK says helps child safety if the coil is removed.

SMOK Nord 5 Battery and Charging

The SMOK Nord 5 battery is rated at 2,000 mAh, and SMOK's spec sheet gives a maximum charging current over USB Type-C of 1.2A for the Regular series and 1.5A for the Leather series.1

A 0.69 inch OLED screen and an LED indicator show settings, and a stepless airflow slider feeds air inlets on both sides. SMOK lists the Regular series at 105 by 32.5 by 23.74 mm and 107 g, and the Leather series at 106 by 32.5 by 24.8 mm and 118.5 g, with 12 colors in all. Specs are on SMOK's Nord 5 page.

The SMOK Nord 5 has no FDA marketing order, which is what a vape needs to be legally sold under federal rules, and it is not on the FDA's authorized e-cigarette list as of May 2026.2

Its name can confuse things. The Nord 2, an older SMOK kit, was among the 22 products the FDA denied on January 16, 2024, but the FDA says none of the 22 is a Nord 5 product.3

The SMOK Nord 5 and the SMOK RPM 5 share the RPM 3 Meshed 0.15 and 0.23 ohm coils and the 5W to 80W power range, by SMOK's spec sheets, but the RPM 5 carries a larger 6.5 mL pod and a 0.96 inch TFT screen in place of the Nord 5's OLED.4

SMOK lists a 2,000 mAh battery for both the Nord 5 and the standard RPM 5. Vaping360's product database lists the Nord 5 as released in October 2022.5
