What Is NJOY ACE 2.0?

NJOY ACE 2.0 is a version of the ACE device built around a Bluetooth check: the device authenticates the user before it can be used, a feature Altria called access restriction technology when it announced the filing on May 20, 2024.¹

NJOY filed it as a supplemental premarket tobacco product application. NJOY's corporate site does not list an ACE 2.0 product.³

NJOY ACE 2.0 Blueberry and Watermelon Pods

NJOY ACE 2.0 is tied to two flavored pods: with the device application, NJOY resubmitted Blueberry and Watermelon pods that work only with ACE 2.0.¹

Those pods matter to Altria's books. Altria said in June 2024 that up to $250 million more under the NJOY merger agreement depends on FDA orders for the Blueberry and Watermelon pods.⁴

The FDA has authorized other companies' flavored pods since then: it cleared four Glas pods on May 5, 2026, which brought the count of authorized e-cigarette products to 45.⁵

Is NJOY ACE 2.0 FDA Authorized?

NJOY ACE 2.0 is not FDA authorized and has no FDA decision on record: no ACE 2.0 device or pod appears on the FDA's authorized e-cigarette list as of May 2026, which does name ten other NJOY products.²

Those ten include the original NJOY ACE device and five ACE pods in tobacco and menthol, authorized on April 26, 2022 and June 21, 2024.⁶ Altria's ACE 2.0 filing announcement is the main public record of the device.

NJOY ACE 2.0 vs the Original NJOY ACE

NJOY ACE 2.0 and the original NJOY ACE sit at different points: the original ACE device and its five pods hold FDA marketing orders but have been barred from import and sale under ITC patent orders since March 31, 2025, while ACE 2.0 has no FDA decision on record.³

Altria's results released on July 30, 2026 assume that NJOY ACE does not return to the market in 2026.⁷ The flavored pods also split the two: the original ACE is authorized in tobacco and menthol only, and the Blueberry and Watermelon pods were resubmitted for ACE 2.0 alone.
